← Raku in Excel and Google Sheets
Support
Help with Raku formulas, the add-ins that give Excel =RAKU.EVAL
and Google Sheets =RAKU. How to install them and how a formula
works are on the main page.
Common questions #
Excel shows #NAME?
Click the Raku button on the Home tab, once. Excel learns
RAKU.EVAL when the add-in first runs. A cell that already shows
#NAME? keeps it until you enter its formula again.
A formula that calls a sub from the Raku sheet shows an old result
The spreadsheet does not know that the formula depends on the Raku sheet. Press Recalculate in Excel's Raku pane, or choose Recalculate RAKU formulas from the Raku menu in Sheets.
Sheets does not know RAKU in another spreadsheet
An add-on from the Google Workspace Marketplace is on in the spreadsheets you use it in. Open Extensions → Add-ons → Manage add-ons, and choose Use in this document for Raku formulas.
Sheets shows Exceeded maximum execution time
Google gives each formula 30 seconds. Every formula is a run of its own and may load the engine again, so give one formula a whole range rather than writing one formula per cell: one load, and a column or a table of results.
Where the error message is
In Excel, most errors are #VALUE!, with Raku's message under
the cell's error flag; in Sheets, hover over the cell. A formula cannot read
files, use the network or start programs, and its code can recurse about a
hundred levels deep.
Reporting a problem #
Open an issue at github.com/ash/rakupp/issues, with:
- the formula, and the values in the cells it reads;
- what it showed, and what you expected;
- Excel or Sheets, and where: Windows, Mac, the web, iPad;
- the engine's version:
=RAKU.EVAL("$*VM.version")in Excel,=RAKU("$*VM.version")in Sheets, and Excel's Raku pane shows it too.
For anything else, write to mail@deepsoft.online.
Removing them #
- Excel: choose Home → Add-ins → More Add-ins → My Add-ins, then ⋯ next to Raku formulas, and Remove. An add-in you loaded from a downloaded manifest goes when you delete that file from the folder you put it in.
- Google Sheets add-on: choose Extensions → Add-ons → Manage add-ons, then ⋮ next to Raku formulas, and Uninstall.
- The pasted script: in Extensions → Apps Script, delete the Raku files.
Removing them leaves your formulas in place, showing an error until the add-in is back.
